Jrue Holiday Wins 2024-2025 NBA Sportsmanship Award for Second Time

The NBA has awarded the 2024-2025 Sportsmanship Award to veteran guard Jrue Holiday, the league announced Thursday. The Boston Celtics guard was selected for the award from a pool of players nominated from all 30 NBA teams. Holiday earns the honor for the second time in his career, after winning in 2021 while with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The award, named the Joe Dumars Trophy after the legendary Detroit Pistons guard, is given to the player who displays sportsmanship on the court. Dumars was the first recipient of the award in 1995.

Holiday now becomes the fifth person to win the Sportsmanship Award more than once. Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley holds the record, having won the honor four times in a 10-year span, most recently in 2023.

Holiday will add the award to his decorated 16-year career, which includes two NBA championships, two All-Star nods, and three All-Defensive First Team mentions.

The veteran guard has bounced between teams throughout his career, but has made a significant impact at all of them. Since being traded to the Celtics in 2023, Holiday has been a consistent starter for Boston and helped lead the team to a championship in 2024.

The Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals after beating Orlando 4-1 in the first round. Holiday missed the final three games of the series due to a lingering hamstring injury.
